Jamie Keddie's Videotelling: Visual Lesson Plans for Teachers

Published in December 2006, Jamie Keddie’s Videotelling is a website to learn grammar through videos. This website is very interesting because it has many amazing videos to watch and new expressions that can be used in everyday life.

There are different levels according to the website: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, Pre-Intermediate, and Upper-Intermediate, etc. Each of them has different teaching methods. For example, in the beginner until elementary level the activity is drawing and singing. In elementary; pre-intermediate level, the activity is grammar drill. In elementary; intermediate level, the activity is drawing and writing sentences. In elementary; upper-intermediate level, the activity is dictation and listening. In intermediate level, the activity is gap filling and videotelling.
However, there are also a few weaknesses that should be improved. First, this website is not very organized, at first I only find a few lesson plans, but then I clicked on something and then suddenly there are many lesson plans. Maybe Jamie needs to re-organize his website and make labels according to the levels so that the readers can search the lesson plans easily. Second, still related to the first one, the layout of the website is not very good. I suggest that he should make it look like some kind of a blog so that it can be tidier and more interesting.
Nevertheless, if I am a teacher, I will use this to teach my students. I haven’t tried making lesson plans, but I can show you how to make it using this website.
1. First, type lessonstream.org or you can just click here. The page will look like this.

2. Then, choose one lesson plan you want. For example the Elf Story.

3. Read the descriptions and the story first, and then prepare the questions.

4. Make sure you read the lesson plan outline so that you can understand how to give the explanations to your students.

So that’s all about Jamie Keddie’s Videotelling. I hope you enjoy reading my blog and please leave your comments below. Thank you!
