Blendspace

Blendspace is a simple tool aimed at teachers, free at the basic level and integrated with Google ID. Click here to know more about blendspace.
This is the third application I use to make lessons. For this one, the learning goal of the activity I created is to help students improve their listening skills, and understand the importance of listening to others. The learners for this activity are 9th grade students (15 year-olds), and they are taking this class to fulfill their English subject score.
In my blendspace lesson, students are required to follow all the activities, reading the sources, watching the videos, listening to the songs, and answering the questions. In the first slide, students should only spend 5 minutes to read what listening is, and then spend 10 minutes at most to watch and write down important points given from the video. In the next slide, students should only spend 5 minutes to answer the question based on the notes they have written. Move on to the next item, students will spend 5 minutes to read a brief explanation about song and then 10 minutes to listen to a song from Taylor Swift (the video will be played twice). There are two exercises, the first one is to fill in the blanks and the second one is to write a moral message from the song. This should take no more than 10 minutes. The last activity is to listen to another song (the time limit is the same as the previous one), and answer the questions given (10 minutes). All these activities are done during the class, so there won't be any homework.
There is no difficulties in creating the lesson because it is all prepared in the blendspace, we just need to think of a topic and then search the sources. The outline is already prepared as well. This is why I like blendspace, you don't have to make everything from zero, you just need to search and drag or type whatever you want. It would be interesting for the students as well since blendspace provides many fun activities. It is very helpful for teachers because the resources are complete and varied, from website to videos and pictures. However, the quiz is only for multiple choice. That means if we want to make another quiz, we have to type it in a blank space. That's what blendspace should improve.
So that's all about blendspace, and here's my blendspace activities about listening. Please leave your comments below. Thank you!

  3. Hi Vena!
I love your blendspace! So nice like always :)
I think it's a good idea to put some songs inside the blendspace. The students won't get boring after listen to it.
